The Chairman, community peace and safety partnership of Girei Local Government in Adamawa State , Malam Haruna Maikasuwa has stressed the need for prompt intervention by the Adamawa State government to save the deteriorating posture of education in the Area occasioned by the intermittent exclusion of students and their absence on WAEC examination list.

The community leader is apparently worried over the process of registration and capturing of prospective candidate to sit WAEC Examination in GSS Girei, a development that has denied a good number of students the right to sit for examinations to pursue further studies.
This development he said has not only delayed the destiny of many children but has increased unsolicited burdens on parents and unlearned population despite government’s huge investments in the educational sector.

Baring out his mind to our correspondent, the Chairman said “Our effort to get the accurate number of students that are due for the exams proved abortive as the school management failed to provide such information. This action is suspicious and mischievous. It is a clear case of maladministration and negligence from the school management.”
Maikasuwa further Intimated that the community invited the relevant authorities for further discussion on the matter and possible verification of the accusations and allegations filed by some parents, emphasizing that the delegation from the State Ministry of Education who were also in attendance faulted the explanation and excuses of the school management describing it as baseless, false and misleading.
Some of the students who are victims of the questionable activities of the school management told our correspondent that they could not sit for the WAEC because their names were substituted with that of external students who pay handsomely to be included in the list.
The school management on its part had accused the parents for not cooperating during the process of capturing and registration of candidates, hence the ommission of some names of students.
The School Management thanked the leadership of the group for initiating the meeting which had invariably averted students hostilities and violence and advised that the affected students wait for NECO examination.
The Chairman of the group used the occasion to commend Governor Fintiri for his enduring support to the educational sector in the state by paying WAEC , NECO and NABTEB fees for secondary school students in the State.
