MP, Others Escape Mob Action In Adamawa.By Dolphin Max Stanley, Yola.

The returned Member of the House of Representatives for Demsa, Numan and Lamurde Federal Constituency, Barrister La’ori Kwamoti, the Deputy Speaker of the Adamawa House of Assembly, Hon Makondo Representing Numan Constituency in the State House of Assembly and their supporters escaped mob action by whiskers when they visited one of the Units in Numan during a campaign tour ahead of the governorship and State Assembly election.


The Federal Legislator who was accompanying the Deputy Speaker, Makondo to round up his campaign in Yaji Unit, an Area inhabited by ninety five percent non indigenous community were attacked by youths who threw stones at them, smashing the windscreen of the vehicles of the Federal Legislator and that of few others among the entourage.
The entourage was compelled to flee from the scene to avoid the escalation of violence but the indigenous youths who got wind of the encounter mobilized for a reprisal attack.
The timely intervention of the Federal Legislator averted possible bloodshed as the Youths were persuaded to retreat and to allow the law take its course.
The Federal Legislator was reported to have consulted with elders of the non indigenous community who promised to hand over the culprits to the appropriate authorities leading to the apprehension of two out of the culprits.

When Pioneer media crew contacted Hon Kwamoti for comments, he confirmed the attack saying that the attack was unnecessary and appealed for calm and harmony since the authorities are handling the matter.
The Pioneer also reports that a similar incident erupted in Numan during the presidential and National Assembly elections when supporters of a defeated APC Candidate from the Southern zone were mobilizing for a showdown when it became crystal clear that their favourite Candidate lost out in the elections before the intervention of the military who were drafted to the Area to disperse the irate youths.
