The Justice Peace and Reconciliation Movement (JPRM) rose from its one-day Annual General Council Meeting on January 14, 2023, with a resolution to reposition the movement and increase its capacity to tackle the growing contemporary global challenges confronting every segment of society.

The meeting which was held at its Headquarters, Gurum Nong-Van in Ganye Local Government of Adamawa State brought together all member communities from four states of the federation, Kaduna, Plateau, Taraba, and Adamawa States.
As part of its tradition, JPRM, the highest decision-making body of the organization organizes the annual event to deliberate on issues of importance, policy formulations, challenges, operational appraisal, prospects of the organization, and conduct of elections of new leadership at the expiration of each tenure.

Over forty sons and daughters of the chiefdom were honored animation for their patriotism to the promotion of peace and community development.
The President JPRM Board of Trustees, Rev. Dr. Habila M. Istifanus delivering his speech at the occasion, described the AGM as unique and first of its kind because of the step taken to recognize and reward excellence and hard work of individuals who had added value to the lives of others within the Chiefdom.

He further emphasized that the Award
was one of the most prestigious JPRM peace awards since 1997, when it was registered and recognized by law and expressed gratitude to host communities where JPRM Offices and Projects are cited especially Jos/POCC, Ganggama, Taraba, and Kaduna.

The President observed that despite security challenges, unprecedented inflation, and escalation of violence in 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022, the movement has recorded serious successes which included, signing and maintenance of contracts with Donor Agencies like BftW, KIA, USAID, JISRA, CBM and CAid adding that they were able to complete and launch the POCC at Gwash Lamingo in Jos.
“We were able to start the utilization of the POCC facilities.

One last one and the most recent one is the peace walk organized by the staff under the leadership of the Executive Director, Elder Mrs. Justina Mike Ngwobia.


Driven by the prestigious award given to them, some awardees who speak to our correspondent after the event, expressed their gratitude to JPRM for finding them worthy to be recognized with such an exceptional award. They promise to do more for the peaceful development of the chiefdom.
