OPINION: FOOD FOR THOUGHT

Atiku, Tinubu, Obi and other presidential candidates are ethnic champions in Nigeria. They represent Hausa, Yoruba and Igbo nationalities respectively in the fast approaching 2023 general elections. In other words, the hanging national electoral contest in Nigeria, is on the platform of ethnic affiliation. Therefore, voting may be done along ethnic/or religious lines in this year’s general elections. This may further create sharp division and damage to the country after over 100 years of nationhood.
Therefore, it is advised that in 2023 polls, electorates should look away from ethnic or religious affiliation and focus majorly on the candidates and their manifestos.
