Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has reiterated the commitment of his administration to sustain academic excellence and viability of the Adamawa State University through sustained funding and promotion of research activities at the institution.

Speaking at the convocation ceremony of the University held today at the Sahuda Road Campus of the University, the governor said that his administration will continue to accord education its appropriate place in his government, emphasizing that this explains government continued payment of WAEC and NECO fees for students to reduce the burden on parents and guardians in the wake of the current harsh economic realities.
He further announced the upward review of scholarship allowances by fifty percent for indigent students and directed the State’s Scholarship Board to enforce the directive with immediate effect.
He commended the management of the University for upholding the culture of academic excellence through diligent and consistent research activities and creation of good learning and teaching environment which has evidently produced additional twelve professors and nine Associate Professors at the University.
According to him, the University will continue to occupy a pride of place in the hearts of patriotic citizens of the State adding that he will continue to pay glowing tribute to the founders and managers of the University for their foresight and sacrifices for making the institution a cradle of knowledge and civilization.
Describing this year’s theme of the convocation lecture, “Revamping Insurgency Ravaged Economies: The Potential of the Livestock Sector in Adamawa State,” as timely and commendable, the governor said that it is “indeed a veritable ground for intense research, since agriculture employ over 70 percent of our citizens in production, processing, storage and marketing activities.”
He charged the Graduands to take advantage of every opportunity that comes their way as well equipped citizens to face the challenges of national development for a better nigerian society and congratulated them for making the state proud.
