The presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Mr Peter Obi has assured Nigerians that his future government will do everything within its powers to move the nation from the present state of consumption to production to enhance the socio economic well being of Nigerians.
Addressing a mammoth crowd during a mega rally held at the Jolly Nyame Stadium, Jalingo recently, the presidential candidate who was in the state in continuation of his campaign tour of the country, said that for the nation to develop a productive economy, Nigerians must move away from the culture of consumption to increased production.
He argued that there is no justification for the nation’s continued dwindling economic fortunes with the available abundant natural resources at the our disposal.
According to him, Nigeria is a lucky nation blessed with natural resources that are enough to operate a productive economy, but regretted that the country had failed to reach the peak of its economic glory due to widespread corruption and bad leadership.
He said that his administration will give maximum attention to the welfare of Nigerians by stimulating a vibrant economy, a stable educational environment, affordable and available medical services, curbing insecurity and improvement of the living conditions of Nigerians, emphasizing that the pursuit of these goals will drastically reduce to the barest minimum hunger, poverty, deprivation, strikes and crises in our educational institutions.
The presidential candidate said that Taraba State has great potentials to attract investments and tourism, promising that his government will explore the opportunity to turn Taraba into a tourists destination and home of investments to engage our unemployed youths.
He said that Nigerians are tired of listening to lies and false promises, emphasizing that what Nigerians need is a President who is committed to build a virile, progressive and united nation that Nigerians will be proud of in the future.
Peter Obi told the crowd that he is committed to the Nigerian state and to improve the living conditions of Nigerians by promoting the principles of social justice, equity and freedom, assuring that as a man of conscience, he will not promise Nigerians what he cannot do.
His running mate, Alh Ahmed Datti who also spoke in the same vein at the rally, said that this is the time for Nigerians to choose what is right based on the positive appraisal of our present circumstances and antecedents.
