ADHA Directs LGs To Rehabilitate Dilapidated Rural Roads.From Dolphin Max Stanley, Yola.

The Adamawa State House of Assembly has directed all Local Government Chairmen of the twenty-one Local Government Councils of the state to immediately commence the rehabilitation of rural access roads devastated by flood and gully erosion.
The Assembly has also called on the Ministry of Rural Infrastructure and Community Development to ensure the effective maintenance of the rural roads rehabilitated under the Agency of the Rural Access Mobility Road Projects (RAMP 2).
The House of Assembly further directed the House committee on Rural Infrastructure and Development to liaise with the parent ministry and local governments to ensure maintenance and durability of the rural roads constructed under the RAMP1 projects.
The Legislators who are visibly worried over the state of rural roads in the wake of the recent flood experience specifically tasked the Chairmen of Girei and Demsa Local Government Councils to expedite action on the rehabilitation of Hayin Gada-Borrong roads.
Aljazirah Nigeria reports that these were part of the resolutions passed by the Assembly during a plenary session following the adoption of a motion of urgent public importance sponsored by Hon. Kate Raymond Mamuno Representing Demsa constituency in the Adamawa state House of Assembly.
Speaking on the motion earlier, the Member Representing Shelleng constituency, Hon. Abubakar Isa, said that the rural roads have become death traps for commuters and Residents.
Hon. Isa, observed that most of the roads were washed away by the 2022, flooding and stressed the need for government’s intervention to address the plight of the people.
The legislator informed his colleagues that if the roads are left in their present bad conditions, they will no longer be motorable in the next three years thereby disrupting transportation of goods and services to local markets.
He urged the Assembly to mandate relevant authorities to urgently take action on the bad state of various rural roads in the state to promote the free flow of goods and services.
Presiding over the sitting, the Presiding over the plenary, the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Aminu Iya Abbas, explained that RAMP-1 had fully handed over rehabilitated roads to the government without available agreement for maintenance.

He however stated that there was an agreement on road maintenance in respect of RAMP-2 projectshe Speaker stated that there was agreement for the maintenance of the roads and assigned the appropriate House Committee to find out the level of compliance on RAMP 2 projects.
He further directed the clerk to communicate all the resolutions passed to the relevant authorities for necessary action in the interest of Constituents.
