The Police in Adamawa have apprehended two suspects over the alleged murder of a 85-year-old from Dumne in song local government of Adamawa state over allegations of witchcraft.
The accused persons identified as Gayawan Danzaria, 22, and Thank-God Obadia, 18, also from Dumne were alleged to have been hired to kill their victim by a woman (name witheld) who had earlier accused the deceased of witchcraft and bewitching of her son.
Aljazirah Nigeria gathered that after the two suspects had collected N2000 payment with a promise to collect the balance of N300 after executing the contract, proceeded to the Resident of their victim.
Armed with an Axe, the suspects took advantage of the absence of passersby within the vicinity and invaded the compound of the deceased by 10:00am and Axed him to death leaving him in his own pool of blood.
Though the two suspects are now with the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Adamawa state Police Command helping the police in their investigations in connection to the murder, the woman behind the hatchet job is said to be still at large.
When contacted the image maker of the Police Command, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, confirmed the incident saying that the suspects are being investigated in connection to the heinous crime.
He assured that the accused will be charged to court after the completion of investigation and warned citizens to avoid taking laws into their own hands.
He described the situation as unfortunate, promising that the police will do everything possible within its abilities to to fish out the culprits behind the crime.
