A Gubernatorial Aspirant under the platform of All Progressive Congress (APC) in Taraba State, Chief David Sabo Kente has said that the return of Reverend Jolly Nyame, the former governor of the State granted state pardon by the Federal Government will no doubt add value to the political Chemistry of the state.
Addressing journalists in Jalingo shortly after declaring his intention to run for the governorship race under the APC to a cream of party supporters in the state recently, Chief DSK as he is fondly called said that the release of Rev Nyame from the prisons was no longer a rumour, emphasizing that he still remains a factor in Taraba politics particularly the northern part of the state.
He said that since his state pardon alongside former Governor Dariye and many others has just been pronounced, it will be too early to bother the Reverend with the talks on his political ambition for now.
Chief DSK who was responding to questions on the morality of zoning in the political equation of Taraba State argued that the devastated nature of State affairs and level of desperation of the people has driven the state out of its wits to consider zoning.
He said that what the state needs at this level of desperation is a competent, experienced and pragmatic leader who will take the people to the land of promise.
He emphasized that aside this monumental phenomenon, the issue of zoning is not an legitimized practice in APC coupled with the approach by some prominent elites from the Northern zone of the state asking him to join the guber race in the wake of the crippling and overwhelming realities in the state.
He said that it is obvious that the southern zone where he comes from is now serving its two terms and is expected to bow out for the northern zone, the present circumstances require an aggressive and meticulous politics just approach to the Taraba situation.
The guber Aspirant who reminded journalists that this is his second major attempt to achieve his gubernatorial ambition since he was denied ticket in 2015 by the PDP, said that his unwavering faith and commitment to the race was to secure a platform through which he can redefine politics and give it a new meaning in the State.
According to him, he enjoys the support of party stalwarts and supporters across the state as evidenced by the quality of crowd that graced his declaration.
He said as an distinguished economic expert with towering credentials, he has the capacity to turn around the economic and educational fortunes of the state for the better, emphasizing that the application of a double stream policy strategy for the educational sector where a system uses a single facility to realize multiple results twice the capacity of the facility will change the development pattern of the educational sector.
Earlier during an interface with party supporters, the guber hopeful
advised Tarabans and the APC to take a fundamental decision that would not be regretted during the choice of the Party flag bearer in the best interest of Taraba State.
He said that his decision to contest again was the product of his desire to salvage the state from its present political quagmire and due consultations with the entire stakeholders both in Nigeria and the diaspora, as well as the three geopolitical zones of the state.
“Having heard from all stakeholders and gotten their notes for me to go ahead to declare to run for the governorship of Taraba in 2023, I want to officially make it public today that by the grace of God am prepared physically and even emotionally to join the race under our party, the greatest and biggest party in Africa, the APC, he stated.
