GM TSBS SEEKS MEDIA PUBLISHERS COOPERATION BY STANLEY MIJAH

The Acting General Manager of the Taraba State Broadcasting Services (TSBS), Comrade David Ayaa has appealed to members of the Taraba State Independent Media Publishers to pay more attention to developmental journalism instead of dwelling on issues that tend to divide us as a people and retard development.
Speaking when he received in audience members of the Taraba State Media Publishers in his office recently, the acting Manager said that the fragile nature of the state under the present circumstances calls for commitment to issues that promote our unity and development.
He said that as stakeholders in the Media industry, we must avoid any temptation to overheat the polity and violate ethical professional standards.
He stressed the need for collaboration between the Association and government to create a conducive atmosphere for good and responsible governance, emphasizing that the media Publishers will have to do more in reporting development policies of the Architect Darius administration and ensure ethical practices as employers in the Media industries.
According to him, the state is being under reported considering the land mark achievements of the Darius administration and pledged every cooperation and support to the associated to enable it succeed in its task to promote responsible journalism.
Comrade David expressed gratitude for the show of solidarity demonstrated during the visit and urged the Association to considered the Broadcasting Corporation as a reliable and dependent Ally in giving journalism its place of pride as the fourth estate of the realm.
Earlier, the leader of the team, Mr Joseph Igba had congratulated the new General Manager on his well deserved appointment.
He thanked Governor Darius for the choice of the new General Manager, emphasizing that to the Media practitioners, the appointment was a reward of excellence and recognition of hardwork and professionalism by this administration.
He intimated that the decision to come together as professionals under a common identity was borne out of the desire and commitment to reshape the destiny of Media Publishers and to promote ethical practices in the media industry.
The Chairman of the Group stressed the need for collaboration among stakeholders particularly the Government, the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) and the Guild of Editors to dissipate their energies towards promoting responsible journalism and ethical practices in the media industry.
