Ahead of the 2023 Presidential Race, A Report credited to the Daily Trust has revealed that the 37-Member Zoning Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chaired by Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State has decided to throw the Presidential Ticket of the party open to all Aspirants. Already Thirteen Aspirants including the 2019 PDP Presidential Candidate and Ex-Vice President, Atiku Abubakar; Former Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki; Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal among others. However, Since the Presidential Ticket has been Thrown Open to all Aspirants irrespective of their Geo-political Zones. Atiku might be a direct beneficiary.
Although, Some Stakeholders in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) including Governors have moved against his 2023 Presidential Ambition because of Age Factor, The Adamawa State-born Politician ‘ll be 76years-old by November, He is considered too old for the position.
Although, There are Four Serving Governors nursing Presidential Ambition, Nyesom Wike (Rivers), Udom Emmanuel (Akwa-ibom), Aminu Tambuwal (Sokoto) and Bala Mohammed (Bauchi), Thus, they ‘ll be divided. Meanwhile, Atiku’s popularity especially in the North could be advantage for him.
Also, Atiku has a strong political structure across the 36 States, this will give him an edge over other Aspirants jostling for the PDP Presidential Ticket.
