Ahead of the 2023 presidential election, some politicians have explicitly declared their intention for the apex political seat of the country and one such politician is Gov. Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State. Consequently, he has received the support of some bigwigs in PDP like Governor Nyesom Wike who stated that Bala Mohammed is “overqualified” to contest for the presidential position in 2023.
However, an emerging report has revealed how Governor Bala Mohammed has hailed Governor Wike as a worthy presidential candidate for the 2023 presidential election. According to the report by Punch, Governor Bala Mohammed stated this while commissioning a project in Rivers State. Governor Bala Mohammed expressed the need for Nigerians to consider allowing Wike to serve them at the national level.
Though Governor Wike is yet to explicitly declare his intention for 2023.Consequently, going by these two reports of Governor Wike and Governor Bala Mohammed endorsing each other for the presidential seat, it seems as if they have an agenda that is still implicit ahead of 2023. Why am I saying this? First of all, in politics, nothing can be ruled out and as such this political romance between these two PDP bigwigs could signal the emergence of a joint ticket ahead of 2023. Recall that with the pattern of the political calculations of the country, Governor Wike and Governor Bala Mohammed fit into the Christian/Muslim and Southern/Northern (Presidential and Vice Presidential ticket) that is usually obtainable with regards to the presidential seat of the country.
