Opinion: Why Wike’s Moves To Stop Atiku And Saraki From Clinching The PDP’s Ticket May Not Work Out

There have been several moves by the Governor of Rivers State, Governor Nyesom Wike, to stop the Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar and the former Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki, from Clinching the Presidential ticket of the Party in 2023.

It was reported by Daily Trust that Governor Wike, and other PDP Governors are working against Atiku Abubakar and Senator Bukola Saraki, to clinch the Presidential ticket of the Party for equity and Justice in the country.

It should be recalled that the Position of the National Chairman of the Party, has been zoned to the North, and Senator Iyorchia Ayu was Picked as the National Chairman of the Party, through concensus.

It was also gathered that Governor Wike has gotten the support of Five Governors, under the Platform of the Party, to stop Atiku and Saraki from contesting Presidential race in the Party.

However, Governor Wike’s move to stop Atiku and Saraki from contesting Presidential race may not succeed, and the reasons, why it may not succeed shall be discussed.

One of the reasons why Wike’s moves to stop Atiku and Saraki may not succeed, is that Senator Saraki and Atiku Abubakar are highly influential in the Party. The two Leaders control the structure of the Party.

It should be recalled that the Leaders of the Party, had earlier thrown the Presidential ticket of the Party, open to every members of the Party, who might be interested to contest the Presidential race in 2023.

Any Plots to move against Saraki and Atiku’s Presidential Ambition, may tear the Party apart, because the two Leaders are highly influential in the Party. They have played wonderful roles for the Progress of the Party.

If all the Contestants should be given a level Playing ground, to show their Popularity by contesting the Primary Election, there may not be Problem but if the PDP Governors intentionally move against Atiku and Saraki, the Party may not find it very easy to win 2023 Presidential race.
