The Ganye Local Government Caretaker committee chairman, Alh. Jibril Ali Gangjari, on Saturday 18th February 2022, emerged as candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the Local Government Area primary election in order to compete with the other political party contestant in the fourth coming 9th April Adamawa State Local Government chairmen elections.
Alh. Jibril Gangjari (TAFIDA YEBBI) scored a total of 137 votes cast by delegates from 10 wards that made up the council. Announcing the result, the committee chairman on the Ganye Local Government PDP primary election, commissioner for Transport Hon. Jika Mustapha, commended party delegates for conducting themselves in peaceful and orderly manner during the primary election.
He said Alh. Jibril Ali Gangjari polled 137 votes to win. He further thanked Hon. Basari Columba who decided to step down on the basis of consensus in order to see the success of the exercise.
‘’In the power conferred on me as the Ganye LG committee chairman on the Local Government primary election, I hereby declare Alh. Jibril Ali Gangjari as the PDP flag-bearer for the forth coming April Adamawa State LG election.
‘’ I thank delegates for conducting themselves in orderly manner; which once again has demonstrated that PDP is one big family,’’ Jika said.
In his speech, Alh. Jibril Ali Gangjari expressed appreciation to the PDP party leadership for finding him worthy to fly the flag of the party.
‘’My special thanks go to our good leader and the fresh air Governor for his firm grip of the party in the State and the quality leadership he has enthroned.
‘’ If elected in the forth coming April Adamawa State LG polls, I will follow his footstep by ensuring that my administration heralds a peaceful co-existence for the entire people of Ganye Local Government.’’ Hon. Jibril Gangjari promised to carry everybody along as well as sacrifice time and energy to unify PDP members/ stakeholders in the area.
There was indeed a huge turn out of the party delegates who came out to participate in the exercise while various security officers were strategically positioned at the primary venue. In a brief session with our correspondent, Hon. Jika Mustapha, the chairman committee of the Ganye LG Chairmen primaries said that the primaries which ended peacefully via consensus was indeed a giant step to PDP electoral victory come 2023 general election, he further added that, since the constitution of PDP provide two options on electing leaders of the party at all levels including election and consensus, he was happy that the other contestant Hon. Basari Columba opted for the consensus with a view to fostering unity among contestants and the entire PDP family in Ganye Local Government area. In the same vein, PDP Local Government party chairman Alh. Usman Sanda (BAJAU) after the primaries reaffirmed that the strength of the Peoples Democratic party (PDP) remained in Consensus-building and peaceful resolution of issues and called for sustenance of virtues. The former Ganye LG Chairman Hon. Farouck Mohammed (BULDOZER), has also reiterated that the emergence of Jibril Ali Gangjari is indeed directed by the divine hand. According to him, Hon. Jibril Gangjari has startled many by his dare to be different despite all environmental odds! He stood out to set the pace that is rapidly bringing development in Ganye Local Government and if given the mandate come 9th April 2022, he will break the barriers and change the LGA positively.
