Ganye chiefdom which comprises of Jada, Ganye and Toungo Local Governments has been blessed with the influential politicians at the state and national level, the chiefdom produces four (4) members of state house of Assembly and a member of federal house of representative at every general election. But It is very sad to note that the insecurity in Ganye chiefdom which currently perpetrated by the kidnappers in the chiefdom is getting hotter by the day, and this has called for an average poor to sleep with his one eye open. There is no doubt that our state house of Assembly members cum member representing the federal constituency have not bordered about the kidnapping and killing of innocent souls which is at crescendo. They only bordered about how to amaze money, making themselves rich and strategizing on how to win elections. What responsibility do our Hon. Members both state and federal owe us; where is the promises the made to us while canvassing for our votes; what meaning is the sacred oath they stood and swore before us? What effort are they making to curb the menace of abduction in Ganye chiefdom. They chair different committees in their various political houses which with that can help fight and brought the kidnappers to their knees. Alas, they failed to do that due to their inherent selfish nature. It is high time for the poor voters in the chiefdom to vehemently seek the accountability from those that occupy political offices. This way, the political class will sit up. Let’s look for more credible people who will deliver in the forth coming 2023 general election, those who seek power for service rather than for self, so that we don’t get the wrong people again. Our present political office holders in Ganye chiefdom and the country at large are indeed renowned for their expertise in coining slogans for positive change, but unfortunately, everything begins and ends with the slogan as they always use us and dump us in a dustbin. I know that we have a docile but resolute and selfless young politician across the chiefdom, let us use our voters’ cards and bring in new selfless ones than the present who only think about their selves.
Until we vote for politicians who assume positions not merely to protect the ‘wish’ and the interest of their kith and kin, until we vote for politicians who are willing to make compromises and considerate of their follower’s welfare, until we vote in leaders that are trustworthy, capable and altruist, then we will always be at the mercies of kidnappers and hoodlums.
