Saturday 27th November, 2021 was indeed a remarkable day in the history of Ganye chiefdom where all other activities of the chiefdom stand still as the six illustrious sons and daughters were turbaned by the Gangwari of Ganye Alh. Dr. Umaru Adamu Sanda (OON, FIAMN). These titles hold great significance to the holders, the chiefdom, the traditional council and the entire people of Adamawa State. The sons and daughters turbaned are:
Prof. Maxwell M. Gidado KSM, SAN as Dan Masanin Ganye. Prof. Gidado is a legal luminary, academician and a politician, he was an Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, he was also a Senior Special Assistant to former President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria Chief Olusegun Obasanjo on legal and constitutional matters from 1999 to 2003 and he equally served in same capacity to former Vice President of Nigeria H.E Alh. Atiku Abubakar (Waziri Adamawa) from 2003 to 2007. Currently Prof. Gidado is the Chief of Staff to the Executive Governor of Adamawa State H.E Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri AKA the Fresh Air Governor.
Hon. Adamu Atiku is the current Sardaunan Ganye II, he succeeded his father H.E Alh. Atiku Abubakar the Waziri Adamawa and former Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the presidential aspirant under the umbrella of the People’s Democratic Party come 2023. Hon. Adamu Atiku just like his father is a generous politician that is focused on pro masses agenda and an advocate of democracy in Nigeria, currently he is the Honourable Commissioner, Ministry of Works and Energy Development in the fresh Air Administration of H.E Rt Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri. Hon. Adamu plays a very vital role in the transformation of Adamawa State under the aegis of the Freah Air Government.
Rt. Hon. Abdulmumuni Mapindi is the new Durbin Ganye, he was an Honourable Member Representing Ganye, Jada Mayo Belwa and Toungo Federal Constituency at the National Assembly under the platform of National Republican Convention (NRC) between 1991and 1992 untill then he was a career civil servant with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and had served in several capacity before joining the politics and the private sector.
Alhaji Aliyu Abubakar was turbaned as the Jakadan Ganye I. until his Turbaning his, he is an international business man based in Gabon but hails from Ganye Chiefdom. He is the founder of Frequence Group, a multinational conglomerate made up of companies dealing in finance, technology and Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) that operates in Europe and African Countries like Nigeria, Gabon, Republic of Benin Republic of Niger, Equitorial Guinea and the Republic of Cameron.
Hon. Bar. Lilian Stephen Babe the Miwoba Ganye was a two term Hon. Commissioner of Health during Nyako’s administration and Honourable Commissioner of works during Governor Bindow’s administration respectively, she is a determined politician that is focused on competence and transparency in the discharge of her duty. She is presently a Board Member at the Adamawa State Fiscal Responsibility Commission Yola.
Hajiya Rasheeda Ahmed Almustapha, is a Cheif Nursing Officer and an Assistant Director Nursing at the Hospital Services Management Board Yola Adamawa State, is a Chamba native from the Chiefdom. She was the first Chamba lady to join the Nigeria Air Force, where she served for two years and has joined the services of the Adamawa State Government, she had served at the Government House Clinic and Adamawa Emirate Council Clinic. She was a member of numerous committees in her endeavors and has been recognized as a selfless and dedicated woman of prestige, she was turbaned as the Jakadiya Ganye I of the Chiefdom.
Prof. Maxwell M. Gidado KSM SAN the Dan Masanin Ganye II has on behalf of the others who where turbaned express gratitude to the Gangwari Ganye, Alhaji Dr. Umaru Adamu Sanda the President and the Paramount ruler of Ganye Traditional Council for finding them wothy of their various title and has equally thanked the special guests of honour far celebrating and gracing the memorable occasion.
The special guest of honor for the Turbaning Ceremony, H.E Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri in his remarks has congratuled the newly chieftaincy holders and commended the Gangwari for recognizing some of the sons and daughters of the Chiefdom worthy of their titles. The Gangwari Ganye HRH Alhaji Dr. Umaru Adamu Sanda OON FIAMN has thankezd the invited guests for honouring our invitation for the Turbaning, and task each and everyone present to be law abiding and promote peace and unity in the Chiefdom and the State at large.
