APC CONGRESS: GANYE LOCAL GOVERNMENT ADOPTS CONSENSUS

All Progressive Congress (APC) in Ganye Local Government of Adamawa State has adopted consensus method to elect the leadership of the party at the Local Government level. Our correspondents reported that the congress which later end up with consensus supposed to commence at the early hours of Saturday 5^th September but due to the higgledy-piggledy situation which the party found itself in cum the personal interest of the two political office holders, has caused the delayers of the congress to the late hours of the night on that day. Speaking with our team on Saturday after the consensus which Hon. Adamu Gombe emerged a consensus candidate, one of the party stakeholders whose name withheld, said that stakeholders have resolved to adopt the consensus as the process to elect the leadership of the party. He further explained that the decision was reached after some series of consultation and a meetings where majority agreed on the method, adding that since the constitution of APC provides two options on electing leaders of the party at all levels including election and consensus, they opted for the consensus with a view to fostering unity among contestants and the two political office holders who hitherto stare daggers at each other due to political interest. However, the aftermath of the consensus revealed that there are some descending voices among some stakeholder’s and party members who kick against the conducted consensus.  They described the consensus as a flawed because the person who emerged via the consensus have not bought the form to contest for the office and is Namdas/Tahir apologist. They said is unconstitutional and illegal. According to them, the consensus supposed to be among the three people who bought the forms and went through the necessary screening. They spurred that since Abdulrazak Namdas and Alhassan Hammanjoda are fighting to ensure the victory of their candidates which later failed, Gangtum supposed to be the last option since he bought the form and underwent the necessary screening. They concluded that for APC to be the behemoth attractive political party that can ensnare large membership and followership in Ganye Local Government, the National body of the party should look into the consensus conducted in order to address some irregularities detected.
